MAAA
I tend to get a bit frazzled and overwhelmed this time of year, especially in stores. The temperature is never right (either too hot or too cold), there are too many people, and too many angry and distracted people. Today, I went to Jungle Jim’s, which, if you’re in the Cincinnati/Dayton area, you most certainly know of it or have been there. It’s amazing and exhausting.
I thought I was being smart, going on Friday morning, but it still took me a little time to get it together, to get there, and a lot of time browsing (4-5 hours easily). Upon leaving the store, I got stuck at a red light, in the right lane. I stopped, and then heard a horn that would not stop. Looking in my mirror, I noticed a large black pickup truck. I couldn’t see the driver, but I’m 99.99% sure it was a guy. He would not stop honking until I turned and almost collided with another car from the cross street. Very quickly he then zoomed out and around me, and then literally stopped in front me (there was not a red light or a stop sign).
I sighed, rolled my eyes, said some choice words about the driver in the safety of my car, but did not honk my horn. Instead, I waited patiently for his temper-tantrum to end. Within a minute or two, he zoomed off, I’m guessing to spread his holiday cheer to others.
My immediate thought was that I bet the guy voted for him. It’s not that Democrats can’t behave badly, but I refuse to believe someone that voted for Kamala could behave that way. I’m also sure that, no matter how bad the economy gets, no matter how much else gets destroyed by him, he’ll stick with him because he likes being an asshole and this regime is all about giving people the green light for their worst behavior. Instead of MAGA, it should be MAAA — Making Americans Assholes All the time.
Paul Krugman wrote a similar, but more nuanced piece this week, which is worth reading. Try to be kind everyone; I know it’s hard.
And if you were driving on Route 4 in Fairfield near Jungle Jim’s around 2:30ish and drive a black truck, what was the need to be in such a hurry that you had to behave that way rather than waiting the few minutes for the light to change from red to green? Really?
